Is Spidey back? Ode to Harry.
12 06 2007I’ve always loved Spiderman and found the second movie a little bit of a disappointment. So I went to Spiderman 3 to see if the third installment in the series would capture the same magic that happened in the first installment. The third in the series is overcrowded with villains. There’s Venom and Sandman, but the true reason to see this episode is the re-emergence and redemption of Harry.

James Franco as Harry Osborn is given a much meatier script than in Spiderman 2 and he takes to the role with gusto not seen since Spiderman 1. Harry as junior green goblin (I do miss William Dafoe’s Green Goblin character) is set to revenge his father’s death that he mistakenly believes was at the hands of Spiderman. This conflict is forgotten when the woman they both love, Mary-Jane, needs their help.
So Spiderman 3 is about this friendship and how when you are in need, you find support from true friends. The Sandman and Venom plots are OK but Harry is the real story here. Like all true heroes, Harry redemption is towards the end and true to Mavel legend he is killed whilst trying to save his friends.
Goodbye Harry, you will be missed

“TMNT”, where to start. I remember seeing the original cartoon series a long time ago and did see the original movie (Vanilla Ice and all). Lets just say, that my expectations were low and if my kids weren’t into Tae Kwon Do, I would probably not have bothered to go. Well to my surprise I liked this darker edged version of the turtles. As somewhat of an IT geek, I found the scene where Mikey is suffering through his day job at the IT help desk absolutely priceless (although this humour was lost on the rest of the audience). The animation was excellent and I liked the story and journey of brothers working together and being strong as one. My kids just liked the colour and animation fight scenes.
